Truth Yet Again

I started this blog almost two years ago as a venue for looking at the world from a certain viewpoint ---- that of a woman approaching eighty.  I have had a wonderful time writing this collection of essays, and have enjoyed the responses I have received from the weekly submissions, particularly from those who remember the long forgotten age in which I grew up.

But something else very interesting has happened --- something that I could never have imagined even just a few years ago.  I have been startled to find I have readers that live in far flung areas of the globe like Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Armenia and Iraq.  I would love to know who these people are who have tangentially touched my life, but of course I never shall.  But there is one common thread that binds all these distant readers, including those who live in more familiar places such as Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy.  The common thread is one essay that seems to attract them all, and that is one entitled Truth.  This was written over a year ago, and while other posts once read have not attracted any further attention, this one remains at the top of the list.

In the midst of a global pandemic, political upheavals, manipulation of social media and all the other confusions of modern life, I see from my small corner of the world an overwhelming desire for the truth that we share with the world.  My little essay will not change the planet, but it did make me aware that the globe at large is still attracted by that powerful word.  This has brought me a sense of unity with humanity that I find comforting in these turbulent times.
